I have a post grad teaching qualification and have been a yoga teacher with the British wheel of yoga for over 20 years and in the last 7 years I’ve specialised in yoga for cancer therapy and then I completed the level 4 cancer exercise specialist qualification.
During the lockdowns I focused more broadly in Cancer Exercise, teaching remotely with Macmillan, Target Ovarian Cancer and SafeFit but incorporating the benefits of yoga, mindfulness and breathing techniques and well as Cardio and Strength.
My work is varied, I work independently half of my week teaching general yoga and the other half working with people living with cancer encouraging them to exercise more and improve their physical and mental health.
I have also got involved with 5K yourway which is a monthly walking and social meet-up with people living with cancer
Hi, I am Francesca Jaworska, I have been a cancer nurse for over 30 years caring for cancer patients through all stages of their cancer treatment and recovery phase.
I became interested in exercise and its benefits for cancer patients following a workshop delivered by Professor Anna Campbell who runs CanRehab, a specialist training provider for health and fitness professionals. In 2018 I completed the level 4 cancer exercise specialist qualification. Following on from this I provided exercise and support virtually for SafeFit, a research trial offering exercise to cancer patients. In 2022 I also completed a masters module in pre-habilitation and rehabilitation for cancer patients
I am passionate about educating and supporting patients to become active and regularly promote the message that with the correct information and support anyone who has cancer or who is currently going through treatment can safely exercise. I am fortunate to work alongside Claire Brett-Pitt delivering Living well with cancer classes and also a pilot living well with breast cancer class.
In addition to these classes I am a 5k Your Way ambassador. This is a community initiative attached to park run encouraging people with cancer to become more active.(movecharity.org)
The benefits of exercise are huge and I feel strongly that cancer patients deserve the correct information and guidance to safely exercise and reap the rewards of physically and mentally feeling better.
With our combined experience and knowledge myself and Claire Brett-Pitt hope to enable cancer patients to feel more confident to exercise whilst also having fun!
